Hale, together with Hale Barns and Bowdon, is one of the wealthiest areas in the country; making is a popular home amongst many footballers and famous faces.  The area boasts mansions, chic boutiques, bars, coffee shops and restaurants.  The village lies within the Metropolitan borough of Trafford.

Hale, Hale Barns and Bowdon are regarded as the wealthiest areas in Greater Manchester and are similarly wealthy to the Cheshire Golden Triangle, consisting of, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury.  The name ‘Hale’ derives from the Old English word ‘Halh’ meaning a nook or a shelter.

The town was first recorded in 1086 in the Domesday Book but the settlement is through to date back to the 7th and 8thcentury.  Hale grew over the Middle Ages and by the 15th century, a tithe barn had been established in Hale Barns.  The growth of the town resulted in the establishment of Hale Barns as a separate settlement.
